my family

Hi or should I say Guten Tag!

We are back from Germany and home for a couple of weeks before we head off again to visit my family in Indiana.  Well I say visit but it’s really to celebrate my dad’s 60th birthday… Yay!

Just a quick heads up that believe it or not… it’s almost time to start thinking about booking your fall photo sessions if you want photos for Christmas/Holiday cards.

I will put up a calendar in Aug. as to what days I have available.  My kids will be in sports this fall so I will be limiting session and only shooting two weekends per month (I also have to leave some room for rainouts etc).

Also… I will be introducing some new “Collections” that I have been working on and a few product updates so stayed tuned!

In the meantime, here are a few photos from our recent journey to Germany:

Ok – this last photo I must explain… our waitress asked us if we would like “matches”.  I told her no … I’m good thanks.  She said “they are free, it is matches festival tonight” so I thought, then said… “sure”………what the heck, I can use some “matches”……needless to say… I did not expect this to arrive in front of me.  In Germany, matches=sardines.  I’m sure I have misspelled this but I swear she said “matches”

I was lucky enough to take a nice walk with my family on the greenway today and thought I’d share a picture…. gotta love turtles!

Just sharing a personal photo from this summer at my parents lake house in Southern Indiana.  I was so tired by the end of this trip and so were the kids that I was disappointed to not get a steller annual photo of my kids and their cousins ….. we had harsh daylight, grumpy kids… the whole lot but yet…. that is how life really is… so here is my photo of life as it really is.  To tell you the truth… I didn’t even remember that Owen had a pacifier last summer….. time slips away from us so quickly.

Yes yes… I know it is the beginning of March and yet here I am posting about my “valentines”.  What can I say other than I have been super busy with some crazy travel to boot!  I couldn’t resist posting these photos of my sweet hearts though…. these are my boys Owen and Sammy :-)

Sigh…it’s so great to be in love!

Really, how can you go wrong with flowers?  Never, right?

Well as I talked about earlier I left my husband and little ones behind to attend a photography event in Philly, hosted by the fabulous Kristin with Essential Imagery.  When I returned on Wed. my oldest son Sammy was so excited he about dragged me to the kitchen to see a surprise and this is what I found waiting for me:

And here’s a pic of my oldest Sammy with the Valentines Day cake he made…. note how all the sprinkles are in one huge clump in the middle..tee..hee..hee… then he didn’t even like the cake part with the sprinkles… go figure!

I meant to put this up the day after valentines day because I just thought it was so cute and funny and here I am posting it just today :-(   Bad, bad Carrie!

This was my sweet valentine card from my husband:

As many of you know, I am originally from Indiana.  Greenwood to be more precise.  My parents still live in Indiana, although not in the house I grew up in.  Recently they decided to move into my Great Grandmothers house and restore it the best they could and I have to say they have done a FANTASTIC job.  I am so impressed and I’m sure you will be too.  I wish I had some before photos to show you so you could see the dramatic changes but still I think you will feel the beauty of this old country home.  I regret that for some reason I did not get any photos of the kitchen or the upstairs/downstairs bedrooms – I wasn’t really planning on posting them so it wasn’t a well thought out project as I was taking these photos.

Ok – so have I ever told you that I HATE getting my own photo taken… much less trying to get my entire family together for a photo?  UGH!  I told Chaeli (she helps me out every once in a while as an assistant) that no matter what I said…. she HAD to make me do this…. don’t let me back out!

I have to give it to those folks out there that do the annual family photo because it is HARD work getting everyone dressed and ready…at one point both my kids were crying…. they were cold… they overall DID NOT want to cooperate!  IT WAS SO FRUSTRATING!  I have a brand new appreciation for my clients end of things.  Taking the photos is hard work too but geeze… so is the other part (dressing them etc).

A HUGE Thanks to Chaeli for taking these photos for us:
