Happy Friday everyone! I hope you have something fun planned for the weekend! For me, we plan on relaxing after all the craziness of getting our 3 boys back to school this week. Somehow it always seems so hectic and stressful!
I had to make a quick post though to let Mark know that I was working away on his wonderful family reunion photo session and just melted when I came upon these cuties. I can only hope that Seth and I are this cute and sweet when we get their age! Don’t you just adore his hat?!?! I am a sucker for hats!
I can’t say enough just how much I love my Fuji X-Pro 1. It is just a beautiful camera that feels wonderful and a bit old school in my hands. It reminds me of the 1st 35 mm camera I ever used (it was my dad’s). I will admit though that it has taken me some time to really get use to this camera system but the pain has all been worth it. I originally bought it to see if I could use it as a back up system for my main Canon gear since I would prefer to have the Fuji around for more of my personal work and hoped it could pull double duty in that department. So far I have tested it out on landscapes and head shots and it has done WONDERFUL!….. so I thought I’d give it a go at newborn photography. Again thinking if I needed to use this as a back up system, would I be able to do all that I needed with this small mirrorless camera and the 35 mm lens and 60 mm macro lens. Well it handled beautifully! The 35 mm was a rock star! Produces beautiful images straight out of camera. I used the 60 mm as well for some up close baby features and it did very well but it was a bit hard to nail that focus (I find that macro lenses in general are hard because you have to manually focus for the best results). Here are some of the images from my session 🙂 If I had to complain- it certainly does not focus as fast as the DSLR system and there is still a lag between images that could drive you a bit crazy if you were trying to photograph fast moving toddlers.
This is an image straight out of camera:
I hope everyone out there had a wonderful holiday season! Have you set your 2015 goals yet? I say go big or go home 🙂 Ha! Well we are definitely making some changes around here and to start – we are having the wonderful Ash of Laynie and Belle design us a new site. So until then, we will not have an active website. In the mean time I have added a LOT of new content to the menu (see above) to help answer questions about pricing etc that you would normally find on our website. Oh AND I added some other new goodies as well. I’m certain that some of this new content is riddled with grammer and spelling errors as I am a horrible word smith. Please email me when you find them so I can correct them 🙂 Muchos gracias mi amigos!
Here is a quick little share of my wonderful fall family photos that my AWESOME friend/assistant Chaeli did for me 🙂 Isn’t she the bestest! XOXO Love you Chae!
I was so happy to see Kiran and her beautiful family this year. They are just all so nice and her kids have the BEST manners! AND they are seasoned pro’s at taking pictures! It was so stinking cute how all the big sisters where like little mama’s to their baby brother! They each wanted their photo taken with him – I thought that was just so sweet! Sigh – his future wife will have a lot to live up to!
I’m telling you this has been the year of the dog for us this fall! So many wonderful families have chosen to include their dogs (or dogs) in their family photos and we just LOVE IT! Yes, you heard me right….we love having your dog in the photos too! Seriously – how cute is this little baby named caligirl!!!! Oh and the family is really cute too 🙂
Such fun and exciting times to be a senior in high school – getting ready to set out on so many new and exciting adventures. Good luck Lindsey! It was wonderful working with you and I know you will go off to do many wonderful things in the coming years!
If I were to say what my specialty is or what I enjoy photographing the most, it would be families. I really enjoy interacting with kids of all ages (especially when they aren’t mine!) and I honestly feel that a nice family portrait is truly important. I love seeing everyone together, smiling and enjoying each other. I truly believe that a nice family picture has a true place in this crazy overwhelming digital world where we are so bombarded with selfies. Find the magic that is a real picture, a printed picture….and one that you are ALL in!
Oh my goodness he is just pure sweetness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The stars aligned and man we got SO MANY wonderful images of this little chunky monkey! This is my FAVORITE age to photograph! It’s around this 5, 6, 7, 8 month old stage that babies are so smiley, chunky and ohhhhhh they laugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At around 7 months is when I suggest parents have their child’s portrait taken because they are usually able to sit at or around this age and they have a little meat on their bones by then too! and of course…it’s a great age for a sink bath full of bubbles!!!!!!!!!!!! I really meant to post these santa hat pictures at Christmas but yet again – things got away from me. Anyway – I hope you enjoy these images. I love the one of him looking up at the HUGE bear – this was TOTALLY his mom’s idea!
