So many people tell me “anywhere but Alpine Groves, it’s so overdone” but I personally can’t get enough of it! It is such a beautiful location with the morning sun coming through the trees. It’s a great place to consider if you have young children and need a morning time photography session since Alpine Groves offers such a variety of spaces and no danger of a little one running into the street!
I’m often asked what the best time of day is for family pictures. Well the best time of day depends on the type of images you want. If you want the soft light of sunset then an hour before sunset is when we would meet, but if you have little kids – that can be one of the worst times of day for them! The best time of day is the time of day that your little people will be happy! Grumpy little ones can make mom and dad stress out and that’s not the family picture you most likely had in mind! That’s why I love having a few parks that we can use to do morning sessions as that is often the best time of day for little ones – just after their morning nap! Don’t worry – you will have plenty of time for a beach sunset session as they get bigger 🙂 I promise!
As kids get older – we often have to work around sports schedules so that’s another great reason to consider a morning family picture session 🙂
Here is my lovely sister- n- law and her family that I bribed into taking my family pictures in exchange for her family pictures during their visit at Thanksgiving (Yes, I’m way behind on blogging!….I’ll post those here soon).
Sometimes the best place for a family picture is simply in your own house! I love taking family pictures at a clients home simply because I love the memories from seeing your home in your pictures. For us, we have lived in several different states and in several different homes and it’s nice to have a professional picture of us in our favorite place – our home! We love seeing the different houses we have lived in and how we had it decorated. They say home is where the heart is and I couldn’t agree more!
I am simply amazed at the size of heart this family has. In less than a year from becoming approved foster parents, this family has given their love, time and home to 4 very young kids from two different families (including a baby!) and she still makes time to volunteer almost daily at our elementary school and is super active in our PTO. How she finds the drive and energy is beyond me. If it were me, I think I would have found a new best friend named Ben and Jerry’s! Thank goodness for families that give so willingly. The love they are sharing with their foster kids will make a difference in these sweet kids lives more than we could ever possibly know.
Twins! How wonderful and crazy your life must be with twin girls! I can only imagine! From a mom of 3 boys – twin girls is like the opposite side of the universe for me! I definitely think I would go broke on all the cute clothes out there for girls though!
I was so super impressed by the positive attitude this sweet young family had after loosing their home and 2 beloved dogs to a house fire during hurricane Irma. Luckily mom and babies were away at the store and dad is a volunteer fire fighter who was away helping other families deal with the hurricane. I can’t imagine the heartbreak they are feeling losing all their pictures and belongings. Stay strong and hug and love on those babies!
Hello. Um, I was told there would be treats and I’ve looked all around and I ah…I ah don’t see any treats. Maybe someone is out buying said treats right now? Ah, I’ll be honest…. I really only came for the treats and if there are no treats then I am going home.
*Aunt Kara, that stink eye is just for you. Thanks, thanks a lot. I thought we were friends.
I’m considering trying to put together a pet portrait fundraiser since several of our shelters were flooded from Irma – would anyone be interested????? I’m thinking black and white on the white backdrop similar to this but maybe with some funny photo booth style props or even Halloween costumes? I’ll need to find a good location –
Whew – what a year! Yep, it’s been just over a year since we moved from Charlotte, NC to Saint Johns FL! Crazy doesn’t even begin to cover it! I am happy to report that O has been doing great and has been released from all his various doctors! Whoot whoot! Turns out that they feel his arthritis was illness induced and no reason to think he should have any future problems! After a month of gluten free he seemed to be free of stomach aches so he’s now back to eating gluten and doing fine. Placebo effect or not – who knows but I’ll take it!
I’m planning on ramping back up this fall with some family photo sessions now that our life has some resemblance of normalcy! Yay! So to start things off I’m going to honor national photo day with a little post featuring some dear friends who were all dressed up for his Navy commission. That 4 o’clock Florida sun made for a very short and quick session but a successful one all the same!
Hopefully more to come soon. Wish me luck! It’s hard to rebuild!
