Family pictures at Alpine Groves Park

So many people tell me “anywhere but Alpine Groves, it’s so overdone”  but I personally can’t get enough of it!  It is such a beautiful location with the morning sun coming through the trees.  It’s a great place to consider if you have young children and need a morning time photography session since Alpine Groves offers such a variety of spaces and no danger of a little one running into the street!

I’m often asked what the best time of day is for family pictures.  Well the best time of day depends on the type of images you want.  If you want the soft light of sunset then an hour before sunset is when we would meet, but if you have little kids – that can be one of the worst times of day for them!  The best time of day is the time of day that your little people will be happy!  Grumpy little ones can make mom and dad stress out and that’s not the family picture you most likely had in mind! That’s why I love having a few parks that we can use to do morning sessions as that is often the best time of day for little ones – just after their morning nap!  Don’t worry – you will have plenty of time for a beach sunset session as they get bigger 🙂 I promise!

As kids get older – we often have to work around sports schedules so that’s another great  reason to consider a morning family picture session 🙂

Here is my lovely sister- n- law and her family that I bribed into taking my family pictures in exchange for her family pictures during their visit at Thanksgiving (Yes, I’m way behind on blogging!….I’ll post those here soon).

Foster families are the best

I am simply amazed at the size of heart this family has.  In less than a year from becoming approved foster parents, this family has given their love, time and home to 4 very young kids from two different families (including a baby!) and she still makes time to volunteer almost daily at our elementary school and is super active in our PTO.  How she finds the drive and energy is beyond me.  If it were me, I think I would have found a new best friend named Ben and Jerry’s!  Thank goodness for families that give so willingly.  The love they are sharing with their foster kids will make a difference in these sweet kids lives more than we could ever possibly know.

Guess how much I love you ~Charlotte Maternity Photographer~

pregnant couple hanging out at the park reading a book to their unborn babyGuessing is one thing these two little babes (yep… I said two…. can you believe how tiny momma K is?) will NOT have to do.  Their parents are so full of love for each other and so excited for the birth of their twins that there is simply no way that these two babies will not feel their love each and every day!  This was just such a beautiful maternity session in every way…

K&B – I wish you all the best with your upcoming additions and I know you will just have a wonderful family just by seeing the way you two look at each other.  I swear if it wasn’t for that little “bump” of a belly on you – I could have sworn I was shooting an engagement session.  I just loved being around you both and sharing in your excitement!

Oh and before I go on – check out this gorgeous park!  Can you believe how beautiful this park is?  Thanks K for finding this gem even though we did have to fight off several other photographers that day!beautiful park photo with lots of trees and flowers with a couple expecting a baby standing on a bridge
