I’m sure you are guessing that I’m referring to how much in love these two are….but NOPE! When I say “love at first sight” I mean for me! (well I’m sure for the two of them too). I just have to tell you all how much I LOVE this woman. If anyone could be a super hero in disguise – it would be this woman right here!
Meet my youngest son’s 1st grade teacher. She is just the most wonderful human being. Her heart is clearly two sizes too big and I am fortunate enough to reap the benefits.
For those who know me personally, you already know that poor sweet D has seen countless speech therapists since he was about 3. We have had an uphill struggle with his speech/articulation/annunciation and since he has started school we have had to add on reading and writing therapists as well. We had an educational evaluation done this summer that shined a light on the evidence of dyslexia and dysgraphia.
I’m telling you this because we feel like we have hit the lottery by getting Mrs. L as his teacher. She has helped us navigate through all these learning issues and calls me (with out me requesting) to keep me in the loop on how my little guy is progressing in school. I am fortunate enough to get the opportunity of spending every Wednesday morning helping in her classroom and seeing first hand her patience with all these energetic and affectionate children 🙂
To say that she goes above and beyond is an understatement! My little guy just had to have his tonsils removed and guess who shows up with ice cream and a bag full of get well cards from his classmates – yep! Not fibbing – she really took time out of her day to stop by and personally wish him well. Wow. right? WOW!
I am over the moon happy that I was able to give her and her family their first ever family photo session. I can’t express how wonderful it feels to give even something tiny back to someone who does so much for others. We are so lucky to have you Mrs. L. You have a beautiful family!
And to all of the wonderful teachers that have graced our lives – thank you for all that you do!
I was so happy to see Kiran and her beautiful family this year. They are just all so nice and her kids have the BEST manners! AND they are seasoned pro’s at taking pictures! It was so stinking cute how all the big sisters where like little mama’s to their baby brother! They each wanted their photo taken with him – I thought that was just so sweet! Sigh – his future wife will have a lot to live up to!
Such fun and exciting times to be a senior in high school – getting ready to set out on so many new and exciting adventures. Good luck Lindsey! It was wonderful working with you and I know you will go off to do many wonderful things in the coming years!
One of the perks of running a very small family photography business is that I get to see my families as they grow! We were super excited to hear the Yancey’s were expecting twins! They decided to go for baby #3 and ended up with #3 and #4!!!! Their beautiful daughters (who we also got to photograph when they were babies) were so loving with their new brother and sisters. Congratulations to you all!
One thing that was great about our somewhat mild summer here in the Carolina’s was that we got to take some beautiful family photos without sweating to death! Love this gorgeous family!
One of the things I love best about being a photographer is meeting interesting and new people. I just loved spending the morning with this husband and wife lawyer team in uptown Charlotte. They needed a variety of images for their new website so we did some more formal color headshots along with a little more relaxed black and white outdoor headshots. I am often asked for headshots against a white background so that their webdesign team can “cut them out” and layer their image into the website background/design so we did that too 🙂
Oh my – WOW! What a fun day I had with my two older boys yesterday!
A couple of days ago my youngest got out all my silver/pots etc and they all decided to play the drums/have a marching band (I’ll see if I can upload that video I took on my phone) so anyway….O fell in love with this gigantic wooden spoon that I have and of course asked if he could keep it. When I told him he couldn’t keep it but he could play with it…well that’s when he came home yesterday and decided that he wanted to pretend to make some soup. After fetching him a large pot, he is pleading with me to PLEASE PLEASE let him make a real soup! Lucky for him I had just stocked our pantry so I thought….why not! So that is how our adventure began! This was not planned, my house is not cleaned, my floors are dirty…. but man it was fun and they were so so proud of themselves. We even ate the soup for dinner that night with some yummy grilled cheese sandwiches. Aside from being a bit on the peppery side – it was pretty darn yummy! You’ll see the ingredients they used and you’ll see S is making out the recipe in case anyone wanted it! They are super excited to share these pictures with everyone!
Only 4 more weeks until my due date for baby boy Scruggs #3! Hurray!!!!!!!!
My wonderful friend/assistant Chaeli was kind enough to come over this week and snap a few maternity photos of me and boy oh boy was it so weird/hard/different for me to be in front of the camera for once! Thank you so much Chaeli for doing these for me! You made me feel so at ease and you took some AWESOME shots!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
Here is one of me and my boys (I love that the dog is also in the photo- just behind the fence!)
